Classic New Mexican Sunset
I went out for a little hike right before sunset. I didn't really want to go, but it'll be hard to get out for the next few days -- so I went anyway. It was somewhat cloudy, which can make for a fine sunset.
See the low little mountain on the horizon, to the left? That's Mt. Taylor, which is actually a big mountain (sacred to the Navajos, I believe) about 85 miles west of where I live (and hike). It's my standard for judging how close we are to one solstice or another. By the time winter solstice arrives, the sun will set far, far to the left of Mt. Taylor. It will be south (left) of Mt. Taylor even by the time the fall equinox arrives.
