2011 Challenge : Beyond Reach - Saltire
Walked down the Royal Mile in Edinburgh today, searching for Saltires to fit in two themes on Blipfoto this week - "Scotland, The World Over" and "2011 Challenge : Beyond Reach". (For those who follow my journal and are not "Blippers", the challenge is to find a saltire and centralise it within the image. Each entry will become a frame in a film which will be premiered worldwide on Burns Night, 25 January.)
This Saltire is on top of the Mercat Cross, just behind St Giles Cathedral. The Cross was the central meeting point in the old town, where Royal proclamations and other official announcements were read.
We were heading for another tour of The Scottish Parliament, this time looking in more detail at some of the artworks. Photography, textiles, painting, sculpture, metalwork, as well as more about the influences that shaped the design of the structure.
Got home to find a warm house. It took two visits from the Gas Board, as parts were required. Thanks to #1 who stayed around the house, so that repairs could be done. We really didn't want to miss out on our Edinburgh plans this weekend. Will post backblip for 2 December tomorrow.
