Ford Anglia.

I saw this model of a Ford Anglia today, and was immediately transported, if you'll pardon the very poor pun, back to my youth. I remember once having a few well deserved aperitifs on the way home from work, and emerging from the Fulwood and Railway pub, and listening to the plaintive whirr of an Anglia starter motor unable to crank the engine over. I do remember a mechanic once telling me that the earlier Anglias had a terrible carburettor.I think this problem was later rectified by the installation of a better one. I do remember that Lancashire Constabulary used some of these vehicles, as did other police forces, and swapped doors and boot and bonnets from blue and white cars. This produced the contrasty Panda look.This also reminds me of the T.V. series Z Cars, which has likened Newtown to Skelmersdale new town. A lot of those episodes were shot live. Imagine the pressure of modern producers with such stressful situations.
