In front are the modern developments at Leith and the docklands area

Prominent in the centre is the rock upon which Edinburgh Castle stands.

Behind lies part of the Pentland Hills.

There was a light sprinkling of snow on the hills and a certain amount of mist about that was picking up some of the low sun's rays. That helped to give a good separation between the objects at different distances.
