New Surgical Hospital Building

This is my first blip for some time using the iPad. Don't ask. But all is well now.

This is a picture of the New Surgical Hospital Building on Drummond Street, currently occupied by parts of the School of Geosciences of the University of Edinburgh, specifically what used to be the Department of Geography. Its history, along with that of the surrounding High School Yards area, can be found here.

I have seen a drawing by Basil Spence depicting his vision for the redevelopment of this area of the University, if all had gone his way in terms fo the rebuilding of the University of Edinburgh after 1945 (pdf here). I think I prefer it the way it stayed, rather than what happened in George Square.
