Snow scene

Travelled over from Edinburgh early this morning with the snow falling down and only one lane open in places - glad I wasn't driving. It has been snowing heavily on and off but it is quite wet and not lying for long.

Went out to take this photo and not long after it started snowing heavily again. Tried to take a photo of the large snowflakes through the window but it just looked like lines despite using a sport setting and a tripod. How can it be done?
