Test Shot

I've been doing some test shots at various f/stops, shutter speeds and ISOs this evening, hence the shot of the Xmas tree. The tree is full on intricate detail with the pine needles and the brightness of the fairy lights provide plenty of contrast against the dark areas of the tree. A good exercise to see how the various parameters are linked to each other, like a triangle of factors that all contribute to image quality in different ways.

This shot was taken from the ISO test range. 100 / 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600 / 3200 / 6400. All at f/8. Obviously the shutter speeds varied depending on the ISO. The less sensitive the ISO (100) the longer the exposure, the more sensitive the ISO (6400) the quicker the exposure but the quality was starting to diminish at sensitive end of the ISO range. A worthwhile exercise.

PS the tree went up yesterday but apparently it's not quite finished! Looks ok to me mind but what do I know.
