Glenn
Saw a very old friend today. Glenn and I met when we were both 15. We stayed friends for more than 16 years before gradually losing touch with one another. The last time I saw him before about two months ago was at my wedding in 1999.
Today we met up in Twickenham for coffee and laughed and shook our heads over some old letters he had brought, and some old photos I had brought. We went for a walk in York House Gardens, then by the river to Marble Hill Park, where we both spent lots of time in the past.
It was really great to see him, we had a lot of fun and some really interesting conversation. The past 11 years have brought about many and totally different changes to us both, but I suppose we are still the same in enough ways to get along.
My Dad couldn't bear him. Glenn had very long hair in those days and Dad refused to call him anything but 'Sheepdog'. When will Dads learn that disliking their daughter's boyfriends only makes them more appealing?
