Flock of Flamingoes

Fuzzy image, but I had to go with it in honor of my mom.

For some reason in recent years she has taken a liking to all things flamingo. Since we live in the Midwestern United States, and there aren't any animals in nature anywhere in our area that naturally have that shade of pink, this is a bit unusual. Friends give them to her as gifts in every imaginable form: Christmas ornaments, lawn decor, lamps, cheese knives, large wall hangings, stuffed animals, jewelry, and even a wine bottle stopper. Flamingoes are all around the house. This is a picture of one of her flamingo shrines, located in the kitchen.

I'm not sure if she likes these crazy birds because they remind her of the beach and warmer weather, or if they give her home just the right amount of "kitch" to make her laugh, but either way, if anyone is ever dumb enough to break into my parents' home, I hope they like flamingoes, too, because that's all they're getting away with!
