Radio, Radio!
One of the things I love about my job is that I get to listen to the radio as I work.
Radio 4 is a national treasure, & with the exception of Woman's Hour (Terminal illness, autism, abuse & cooking) & The Afternoon Play (Terminal illness, autism, abuse & murder) some real gems are broadcast.
Today I learned from Mark Forsyth, author of The Etymologicon, that cappuccino coffee is so-called because it has the same light brown colour as the hoods of Capuchin Monks' habits (Capuccio, I gather, means hood in Italian).
Monks were often the butt of jokes in medieval times, & in their brown & black habits they were compared to apes. Hence, the OED suggests, the word "monkey".
So a monkey that appears to wear a hood is a Capuchin Monkey!
I love this sort of stuff!
