The Borderlands
is the place to be (I urge you!)
I had to go into town at lunchtime so I extended the walk slightly to Northcliffe Park to take this shot. All of us in the office took our lunch break at different times today and it was funny how everybody came back soaked, caught in any number of heavy hail showers. Except me. I somehow managed to coincide my break with the one sustained spell of sunshine! I love how the blip Gods continue to look after me like this! That special membership option was well worth taking up!!
The borderlands is where all the interesting stuff happens in life. At the edge. Where opposites meet and interact. The fringe. Living in the borderlands is not about sitting on the fence, but about embracing the full complexity of life, never seeing anything as black or white, but always some often difficult to define shade of grey in between. Above all else, it's about rejecting the status quo and being open to change.
I suppose I've got drawn along this line of thought by the Occupy movement. Here are groups of people in cities all over the developed world who are living right on the cutting edge - in the borderlands. They are seeking change because of the undeniable necessity of change, and are putting everything they've got on the line to ensure that the key issue of the unsustainability of our economic system cannot be ignored. I have enormous respect and admiration for everyone involved.
I can't deny, though, that the main reason I'm talking about this tonight is because Kendall is back! This one's for you.
