Yes, a Dinner Blip...

...but hot giggity it's good!

Due to horrible weather and being sent home at 12.30 (only took me 2 3/4 hours!) I decided that this was a night for comfort food.

I've never tried using Barley in a Risotto instead of rice but it does work really really well. For all of you who, like I was, are a bit weary of trying it, just do it! I took the advice of the lady in the veg shop and soaked the Barley for about an hour in boiling water before adding to the pan as it reduces the cooking time but doesn't go mushy.

For those that are interested it is Barley Risotto with fennel, chicken, peas and jarlsberg.
