Funny stuff this water.
Mankind is even funnier.
''They'' decided to comply with the great need to allow easy access, for the less mobile, to places around town. Most managed with a reasonable amount of success. A notable failure was Barclay's bank which, (Which I may or may not have blipped as Lake Penrith, can't be harassed to check) quite cleverly, built the ramp in a way so as to minimise the slope, however: on reaching the flat at the top you'd be faced with either a 1'' deep lake or a skid-pan, dependent upon the ambient temperature. I lost count, but I think it was 3-4 tries before it was permanently wet-less.
This crossing point has just experienced its first real rain since manufacture and you can see the usual result of local civil engineering. What I did not realise, until too late is that, just about 6'' to 1' to the left, off-camera, is a brand new drain.
DUH?!?!?
An indicator as to its age ... The ''border'' beyond the pavement, if followed around to the left, will take you to a front door with a 1' (30cm) step down onto a rough metre-wide, rubble-strewn, region which (while now occupied) is not used as an entry/exit route.
