Lets have some light

Has anyone else had trouble with the change over to Halogen bulbs I wonder, when I bought the lamp it took two separate 40w bulbs or was supposed to.
Then I found the correct Halogen bulbs but a few months later I couldn't find the correct numbers any where.
A few days ago having been reduced to one working bulb only; I went online and found a similar bulb which is 42watts ordered two, then had a brain wave somewhat late and took the old bulb to that well known supermarket beginning with T and had a hunt in the boxes to find anything the similar.
And lo I did but under another number (same make as the original) as a friend pointed out it might have saved a lot of 'hair pulling' if I had bought a new lamp!

Not quite sure what the lesson is from all this...but I blame the EU.
