Where Were You When The Lights Went Out?

We're back. Twenty-seven hours without electricity which for us also meant no central heating too. And no phone signal.

Last night we had fun. It was a a history lesson for my daughter. Let her experience a typical family evening in the 70's when we had the power cuts. Ah, the good old days.

We played music on the iPod, instead of the cassette player. We told stories and laughed and laughed. Aided by a glass or two of red instead of a hot drink from the flask prepared before the power went off. In the 70's you were given advanced warning of the anticipated blackout.

A friend, who only lives about nine miles away, only lost power for a few hours last night so she invited us to her house this morning. A group of us descended upon her. They fed us and made me the BEST cup of coffee I have ever had. Cleared the fuzzy head. This is Hubby, me and another of the guests toasting our toes at the fire. Jealous of her funky socks that came all the way from Alaska!

Oh and the weather, much calmer today and also much colder. Hubby got home from Aberdeen yesterday with no problems to report. Daughter off school again as no power at the school and most of the surrounding villages.

Title - the name of a very funny Doris Day film about a power cut in New York
