Designs in Denim

A special gift that I received this week from my "boss", the school's principal! Not sure how she knew I have a weakness for all things denim, but CvH couldn't have chosen better! I was really bowled over by her generosity as I realised that she not only appreciates my dedication to the school but also values our friendship. As is her nature, she does not realise the impact she has on other people. I truly am fortunate to work with someone who is committed to making a difference in children's lives.

Being my first day of holiday, my brain is still getting used to the idea of not having to be in crisis mode. I spent the day with daughter T getting our hair done and shopping with my Mom for son Ks birthday coming up.

The bad news of the day is that my sister had a robbery at her house this morning. Luckily everybody is fine, but she was pretty shaken-up by the whole thing. Our two families have experienced this too many times now and each time we suffer from flashbacks. We fight every day to forget them but it is a battle to shake off the feeling of violation. I hope she is able to sleep ok tonight. Unfortunately I know exactly how she is feeling and I know that I too will not sleep easily!

I must end with a positive thought - the weekend is here and we will enjoy some family time celebrating son Ks 14th birthday.
