LA BOCA!

Although we were out last night and felt pretty rough today, Alexia and I still managed to get up at a decent hour and make something of our day. We were in La Boca, a town half hour away from the city centre, by lunch time.

It's such a strange little place. For a start it's one of the most touristy places to visit and the one main street called 'Caminito' is completely packed with restauants, so much that you can't really see the cute colourful houses. However, on the other side I managed to get this picture which shows the rows of multicoloured houses whose history stems from the Italian immigration to Buenos Aires. Apparently the Italians traditionally painted their homes here with the leftover paint from the shipyard because they couldn't afford anything else!

Obviously the houses weren't always this bright and have been refurbed and over-exaggerated for the purpose of tourists. But it has to be said that it's a very pretty little street, all 100 metres of it!

We ended the evening in a bar in the congreso for some coffee and dessert for Alexia's last night.
