Black Welsh Mountain sheep

Much prized for its mutton in the Middle Ages these Welsh Mountain sheep were bred specifically, in the 19th century, for their black fleece and are the only completely black breed in the UK.

The fleece is of special interest among hand spinners, weavers and sheep rustlers - the farm where these had an entire flock stolen one night a year or two ago.
