It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas
H has been in full-on Christmas mode since December 1st but I don't hit Christmas-mode until this weekend, because it's this weekend when we choose our tree and decorate the house :-)
H was more excited than an excited thing because the man at our local garden centre (which sells just the best trees), let him push it through the wrapper and pull it out the other end.
The garden centre was completely enchanting...the trees were all standing in little metal stands, sunk into the earth and all mixed sizes so it was like walking through a mini-forest to choose the one you wanted. Very cool way of doing it.
They also had rescued owls and mulled wine and an indoor mini forest of artificial trees with animatronic eskimos, polar bears and huskies.
The boys chose their ornaments. Every year they get to choose one each. This was the first year that Noah really understood he was choosing a decoration for the tree. H chose an exquisite pair of tiny white feathered doves, which clip to the branches and Noah chose a small soft dachshund because it looked like Schnitzel Von Krum from the Hairy McLary stories. It remains to be seen whether he actually parts with it for long enough to actually hang it on the tree!
Last year, after Christmas, my dad donated an old box of random decorations and tinsel to us, which to Henry's delight, we gave to him to decorate his room. He really went to town...and I mean really. It looks like Christmas threw up in there!
So now off to watch Strictly Come Dancing, which we've recorded.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...tra la la...
