Rose

Despite the wintry stormy weather the rose is still clinging on to life and the garage wall.

This evening A and I went to a production of Faust by Gounod live from the Met in New York and beamed across to our cinema in Yeovil! It was fantastic with the Russian Marina Poplavskaya as Marguerite, Jonas Kaufmann as Faust and Rene Pape as Mephistopheles. Reading later what the New York critics had to say, they were not too happy about Des McAnuff's production with its basic modern stage scenery, dress and video effects, but never having seen it before I was completely swept away and the singing was first class. What a treat!

It was a shame our audience were mostly of pensionable age with no youngsters amongst them.
