My niece
I caught this after going over to my brothers house. He lost his dad last week and just needed some sibling time. This little one was curled up next to me, the little furnace that she is caught my heart and made me miss her.
You know, as little kids we tend to believe in all the world. Disney character, the Muppets, Cartoons, the world is a place to be discovered, then as we get older we lose that sense of magic. I feel like we then spend the rest of our lives trying to find that again. We have magical glorified concepts of 'soulmates', of 'happily ever after', here in america the 'american dream', We just change the wording, but really as adults we spend all of our lives looking for that magic. We see it in the eyes of kids on Christmas morning and we wish for it and want it and its hard.
I've struggled with this concept. I've struggled with this idea. In the romantic relationships I've had, in the life I've lived, I still look for this 'happily ever after.'
Holding my little niece was a happily ever after moment for me. It was a moment when all the world was right because all that mattered was that she was curled into my arms and I could feel her little life, the breath coming in and out of her lungs.
Happily ever after? well I think its just life, and what you take joy in. So today, as you are working, reading this entry, find happily ever after in this moment. Remember that life is a beautiful thing, but sometims only if you take time to rejoice in it.
