Banged up!

Cold again today - made for a very foggy atmospheric boat ride over to Alcatraz.

What an interesting place it is. I was expecting it to be creepy but I didn't find it eerie at all. It was really interesting wandering round, seeing the cells and hearing the history of the place and of people like Al Capone and the Birdman. Must have been a horrible place to be put, desolate, cold and uncomfortable. But then maybe if prisons were like that now the world would be a different place.
Back from the island we had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe then went a wander down Pier 39 which was more Blackpool Pier than even Blackpool Pier is. Didn't like that bit at all.
Along to Fisherman's Wharf to see the seafood sellers and the famous sign then back on the trolley car to the hotel.

We were both pretty worn out with all the hill walking so decided to camp out on the comfy bed and watch American tv instead of going out for dinner. I wish we got American commercials - they're much funnier than ours (not sure they're intended to be though!)
