12 Days of Xmas
12
The first day of Xmas we are supposed to have a partridge in a pear tree, unless of course you are Indian, as the video shows when a dowry is the replacement.
Anyway, there is not a partridge to be found around here, but I do have a pear tree, and this is it.
What is unusual about this, self propagating tree, which grows in a pot in our back garden, along with an apple, cherry and plum tree, all in their own pots of course, is the fact that we have a blossom on it in the middle of winter.
It has been there since November, and it did have a companion. That one got separated from the tree several weeks ago by the wind. Whereas the pictured blossom has survived heavy rain, some snow and Hurricane Bawbag.
We have had our trees for a couple of summers and have only had on tiny apple as a harvest, as the apple tree has had lots of blossoms over the 2 years, but that dratted north east wind blew them all away.
As this solitary pear blossom is a tad early, we wait in anticipation for next spring to see what harvest we may or may not have.
