MADE MY DAY!!

Oh my goodness!! Drove my husband home from work late this afternoon. My son and I were going to be working late and hubby wasn't up to it. Walking out to my car I hear branches breaking in the brush next to the duplex. I start to walk over to check it out and I see a rack and think "Oh, a buck"! We see deer often but the bucks not so much. I go back to the car to get my camera and as I'm walking back over, adjusting my ISO up as I walk, opening my aperture so I can have a shutter speed that I can handhold and all the while trying not to spook the 'buck' but what do I see??....4 huge bull elk!! Ooohhhh.....I was so excited! I called my husband on the cell to come outside and I'm trying to be quiet but they hear me and start to bolt. However, they don't go but a few feet and stop and stare at me. Even when my husband came out they didn't spook. We stood there about 10/15 minutes and they just stared back. I got a few shots but I just enjoyed the amazement of being in their awesomeness! I've been close to elk on a preserve but right outside my door? never. What a wonderful thing. They are so amazing. Look at that beautiful face! Anyway, I also have this photo and this one and this one. I'm still smiling! :o)
