Yang Guang

Headed off this afternoon to give the kids a surprise.... pandas!!

We had managed to get advance viewing tickets for the first day as we are members of the zoo, booked up and off we went. There was hardly anybody else in our group (or the zoo as the weather was vile......) and we got a wee peek into their "back room" before going outside to see them in their enclosures. Tian Tian didn't make an appearance outside so it was as well we saw her inside, though in fairness she was just waking up but the big fella Yang Guang was well active. The kids were delighted and it was marvellous seeing pandas!!

In other parts of the zoo, the penguins seemed to be loving the weather, the rhinos were having a play fight (that was impressive!!) and we saw leaf cutter ants (which did make for impressive shots but there was only ever going to be pandas today!!).

We'll be back for more panda viewing I think.....
