The Memory Keeper

"Please can I have.......?"

Luka does not bark. This could well be a side effect of him growing up as an "only dog", or possibly even due to his being dominated by cats for the best part of his puppyhood, Hell, maybe he forgot to attend the essential "How to bark" classes when he was still a baby. Anyway, as a result of this he has had to develop a set of rather irritating "Please can I have" routines. If he needs a walk/ food/ chews/ attention he first grabs our attention with a terrifyingly human-like stare. If this fails to attract the necessary attention, he then starts to use his paws to physically alert us of his needs. If this does not stir a reaction he will use both paws alternately, often batting hands away from laptop keys, books or mobile phones. When he finally manages to get our full attention it is then simply a case of guesswork on the human's part. Following him is a good indication. If he needs to poop, he runs to the stairs. If he needs food or chews, the kitchen. If he just wants a few moments of love he'll grab a toy/ shoe/ cushion and growl at you whilst attempting to get as close to you as is physically possible. This is also known as "goofing."

The above image depicts Luka midway through one of his typical "Please can I have" routines. He was after food, in case anyone wanted to know... ;)

Putting our Christmas decorations up tonight. I'll save pictures of the plastic conifer for another day.
