The Witpoortjie Falls, Gauteng
Tania was down with a migraine all day so I went down to the Walteer Sisulu botanical gardens and took a stroll around the always beautiful gardens. Just to the left of the waterfall is the nests of the black eagles that are the only breeding eagles in a suburban area. The area has built up over the years but the eagles have remained. The females first mate was killed and because they mate for life they thought that was the end of the black eagles in the area, but a new male flew in and they have been successfully breeding ever since. This amazing waterfall is slap bang in the middle of suburbia. Sappi hold concerts in the gardens amphitheatre during the year, as do the botanical gardens in Kirstenbosch, Cape Town. Carols by candlelight is another favourite event.
