Curling up.

Looking at this I have to wonder where the rest of the cat went. She can curl herself up into an amazingly small ball to keep warm - and she usually does it on my chair. Think it's probably fair to say that I am well down the pecking order in this house!

Heard a group of school kids carol singing while I walked through the concourse at the hospital at lunchtime. While I admire attempts to raise money for well deserving charities (a phrase I also abhor as surely only those who are well deserving are allowed to become charities... but that is another story...) I struggle to find this appropriate. After all, you rarely go into a hospital to get good news and sometimes the news you get is just plain awful. Imagine being told that a loved one was about to die... and then having to walk through a throng of grinning people belting out the tune of Jingle Bells then shouting "ho ho ho" while ramming a collecting dish in your face and shaking it for all it is worth. It is all to easy to dissociate ourselves from other people's suffering at this time of year. All to easy to assume that, because we are warm and safe and happy, others must be too.

Not everyone can curl up on a warm chair... even if they have one to curl up on...
