The start of the spud harvest

We cheered C on today as she dug her bucket of spuds.

Technically the official judging isn't until tomorrow but she'll be winging her way to Canada for a Christmas visit home. My guess is the cheering wouldn't be the same on the plane if she harvested her bucket there ;-)

As yet we have no other buckets to compare but we all think this is a pretty good crop. The 'flavour' (type ;-) of spud is Swift. Not the quickest grower and yes, we realise they should have died off more. But hey, a year of earthquakes and all that goes with it. The rest of us harvest tomorrow afternoon.
