A Downy Downer
I always hate to be Donny Downer...but this time of year...around here...it's hard to stay "up." The flowers are gone, the trees are bare, and the smart birds have flown south. It's 4 p.m., and it's starting to get dark.
You see what I mean? I feel like getting out of my computer chair, and just walking across my family room floor with my head hung low. I probably would if my chihauhau wasn't watching me. She's weird enough without seeing me do weird stuff.
With the impending darkness...I was shut in and shuttered down to 1/60th of a second. I wasn't hoping for much. A chickadee and 2 nuthatches came by, and just teased me. Then this little lass showed up. It's amazing how little it takes to lift your spirits. I smiled inside, and started snapping away. Most were out of focus because of the slow shutter speed. Such a cute little bird.
A downy woodpecker had the ability to change me from Donny Downer to EUUUUgene Upper. Volleyball night. One good play of Bump-Set-Spike puts a smile on my face, too. Add to that...popcorn night...maybe not such a bad day after all.
