Spectral

im in the middle of a dictionary challenge, and a few of us are doing it. we just open the dictionary at a random place, close our eyes, and point at a word.. then take a photo about that word. today my word is spectral.

spectral
adj. relating to or like a spectre or ghost.
adj. relating to spectra or the spectrum.

.

when i was younger, my Gran used to let me look in her glass jewellery box and play (carefully) with her 'treasures'. my favourite necklace was this glass pendant, and when she died i claimed it. now it hangs on my Christmas tree, and i love it when a draft catches it, or the heat from the lights make it move slightly, and rainbows catch my eye.
so this pendant basically captures both meanings of spectral... the necklace does sort of relate to a spectre or ghost, even if it's just the ghost of my past and i'm reminded of the days when i'd sit and examine Gran's jewellery and not the actual ghost of Gran on my tree !!!... and also the spectrum of light, as it plays the part of the prism on my tree.
