Haircut!
Got two poorly piglets at home again today. Phoned the GP surgery last night to get an appointment for Charley just to make sure it's nothing more than a cold, but by the afternoon today I'd decided that it really was just a cold and it just sounds horrid because he's such a wee baba so I cancelled the appointment. (The other reason was that we were all quite comfortably installed at Hayley's again and nobody could be much mithered to move!)
Also phoned the salon last night. A couple of weeks ago I was given a voucher for a free haircut at Richard John salon in town. At the time I thought honestly how hard could it be, to pop into town for a haircut? I didn't factor exhaustion and poorly piglets into the equation. Anyway the voucher was due to run out today so I really hoped they could fit me in! Thankfully I got a midmorning appointment and Hayley's kids were all off school poorly anyway so one more poorly child wouldn't make much difference so Ben would stay with them and I'd take Charley with me.
Ben was pleased to get a chance to see his friends and Charley bless him slept the whole time I was at the salon! I'd only managed to get an appointment right at the beginning of his self-appointed usual morning sleepytime :D I was pleased that I figured out how to put the buggy together to get the carseat to fit onto it - I'm not sure I've actually had to do that before! Charley woke up eventually just as we were leaving and yelled at me all the way to the surgery - I had to get him registered there before he could see a doctor. Once I'd given his forms in we settled down for milk and he had a bit and fell asleep again. Off to Steyning to pick up the cashcard from Steve (and my new pre-loved didymos caribe fische wrap!!) and back to Hayley's via the supermarket - and by the time we pulled up at Hayley's Charley was yelling for his boob again. The cold fresh air had obviously done his lungs some good as his yelling was in fine form...
Of course Ben had no intention of going home, Charley was happily having cuddles, I was happy drinking coffee. By 4.30pm though after I'd cancelled C's appoinment Ben had been worn out and although I was about to take C home and leave Ben there to have his tea with the others, it was obvious he needed to come home too. And of course there were no parking spots outside the house so we had to park 2 streets away - glad I'd figured out the buggy!
Steve arrived home literally seconds after I'd got the boys inside, and about 5 minutes after that - in the middle of a tired Ben crying for milky cuddles, Charley getting a nappy changed and Steve nipping to the loo - the doorbell rang and our dinner had arrived with Rachelle. It all happens at once doesn't it! Was so lovely that Rach was able to stay for a bit, haven't seen enough of her so hopefully next week she and her little boy will come round for a play. Sausage casserole went down a treat! AND there was even enough left (after I'd had 3 helpings!!!) for Ruth when she and hubby Sam came round in the evening for mulled wine and laughter :) Ben was so tired that he went to bed before they arrived, and I sang him to sleep accompanied by Fredrika Stahl's Twinkle Twinkle again :)
Was a lovely lovely end to the day. Lots of laughs and chatter and mulled wine (Ruth did you realise the grolsch glass holds a lot more than a wineglass and you'd filled it right up for Sam?!!) and I'd not realised that a couple from Steve's work were coming round to pick up the small dining table we'd offered them - Jim and Amy are Chinese (he's from the North and she's from the South and both are into acoustics. He's working for B&W now, and moving into their apartment here tomorrow!) Steve persuaded them to sit down while they waited for a taxi, so Amy got to have cuddles with Charley while we chatted about China and England and accents and dialects and all sorts. Hope we get to see them again!
Thankyou Hayley for adding Ben to your brood (again!) today;
Thankyou Rachelle for a GORGEOUS casserole, Steve did get a bit in the end but it took a lot of restraint on my part!!
And thankyou Ruth and Sam for a lovely evening :D
