Bovver Boots
Mrs P's greatest love is gardening and she also likes practical clothes and footwear. So when she read about the boots that the Royal Horticultural Society provide to their employees (not the stenographers) she had to contact the suppliers and order a pair which arrived yesterday. They came with an instruction and specification sheet. "Do not wear without hose" - sounds rather quaint to my ears but I suppose it's what you get in a hosiery shop - everything from short socks to crotchless tights in Ann Summers, though I don't expect that's normal gardening wear. They have steel toecaps and oil-resistant soles. Must say there have been times when I wished I'd had something a bit tougher over my own toes. They have CoF (that must be coefficient of friction) of at least 0.4 on wet or dry quarry tiles. To prevent anti-static build up the resistance of the discharge path to ground must not be more than 1000 megohms and to give some protection against shock not less than 100 kilohms - though I wouldn't myself deliberately put it to the test. Obviously at some industrial sites these things are important and the firm make boots to various European safety standards. And in UK personal protective equipment is VAT-free so they're probably quite good value.
Now I'm down to the local kinky shop to get some "hose". (Just joking).
