Still life
It was a surprise to find that there was still life in our courgette plants so late in the year. I picked these flowers, even the female one with the miniature courgette attached, because they won't grow and they're so delicious stuffed. It was a bit fiddly with these small flowers, but I stuffed them with grated cheese and chopped oregano from the garden, then LoJ dipped them in his special batter made with chickpea flour and no egg, and fried them as a small amuse bouche before our lunch. The main course was very easy: before we went to the garden to do a couple of hours' work I put two duck legs on a layer of onion, garlic, pumpkin and juniper berries with a glass of white wine in an earthenware dish in the oven. When we came home it was ready to eat.
Another bright blowy day - a cold north wind, a proper Languedoc winter day.
