Light Mantled Sooty Albatross

There are relatively few places where you can sit and quietly watch an albatross sitting on the nest. Watching the black-browed albatross on Saunders Island was one of the highlights of my trip to the Falklands in 2009, and I suspect that one of the highlights of the current trip is going to turn out to be the time I spent watching a light-mantled sooty albatross at Gold Harbour in South Georgia. I'd seen these birds, fleeting, out at sea but never had a chance to look at one closely.
