Sunrise above the cloud line

This is the view from the cabin on the summit of Nyiragongo, back towards an old crater. What a wonderful way to start my day yesterday.

Unfortunately I didn't drink enough water and ended up dehydrated and vomiting, weak and needing to get down the mountain quickly. At over 3200m there was some careful navigation of the lava rocks for two hours before I was whisked away on a stretcher to the base.

A very long day, left the Congo, back across the border to Rwanda, three hour drive to Kigali, time for a quick shower then only two hours rest before heading to the airport for the next round of the holiday.
