Locked & Loaded.
I think we've nailed down Christmas today. I walked into Richmond for some last bits & bobs, & LOH made mince pies (not tried 'em yet, I'll report back!).
Richmond Lock & Weir, opened in 1894, stops water draining from the upper Thames when the tide goes out, allowing boats to pass upstream & providing a stable habitat for wildlife. It looks jolly nice too.
The 3 sluice gates each weigh 32 tonnes, are 66 ft wide & 12 ft deep.
Having sorted the festive business I nipped into the local for refreshment, where a Mexican chap was singing & playing guitar. He tackled everything from the Black Eye Peas to Led Zeppelin, via Abba & the Grease soundtrack, & was brilliant!
Edit: Mince pies goood!
