Marlin rig, Madeira

Of all the pictures I've taken, I think this is my favourite, or at least in my top 10. I'm not sure why as it's not particularly interesting but I just like the colours and the shape. It reminds me of a great day I had marlin fishing off Funchal.

Big game fishing isn't my thing - it's too expensive for a kick off. But I had the chance to write an article on it for The Field magazine. The trouble was that you can fish for a week and catch nothing. But I got lucky and caught a Blue Marlin quite soon after setting out.
