Christmas Making

We had a really Christmassy Day today. I did a load of cooking for the holidays while Betsy and Al played and played. We then had a huge making session where they jointly made a Christmas present for Nibs (an embroidered felt cover for a hand warmer to help with her RSI), then a paper nativity each which I found online. I was also crocheting a gift while I was helping them. There were lots of Christmas songs on the kitchen radio and it was a great atmosphere. We then wrapped loads of presents and only stopped when our Sellotape ran out!

Betsy is now making a felt pencil case, with an embroidered Converse All-Stars logo on it. I think she may have making gene like I do. I think I got it from my Dad. He was a carpenter and very very clever at making things. He was extremely numerate and could see flat shapes in 3D and could make anything, and understand how anything worked. He had appalling handwriting and I never, ever saw him read a book. He died when I was 18 and I have often wondered if Al's Dyslexia (which isn't hereditary, but runs 'through' families) comes from him. He was a really nice man.

These blips often send me off on strange tangents.

Nibs has asked me if I can bring the children over for lunch tomorrow. She is obviously not at work, and looking after her two-year old nephew as her sister is in Selsey with her Mum, making arrangements for the funeral. She would like a bit of support and company. I'm so glad to be able to do this small thing to help her. We spoke on the phone last night and all I did was cry, I was useless.
