Memorial?

Took Luka out for a walk this morning and found this bunch of flowers nailed to a tree beside the river. I'm guessing it's some kind of tribute/ memorial to a lost family member or something. Seemed like a strange place to leave them, there are old nails and pieces of string still stuck in the bark so it's obviously not the first time someone has left flowers here. Felt quite sad leaving this spot today...
