Doing Things Differently

Sky - Tree - Wall

We had hoped that the weather today would be brighter (as promised by the Met Office App) but ignoring the dull skies we still went for one of our favourite walks.

Harewood Estate, surrounding Harewood House, is only a few minutes drive away from home. We park the car in a layby off the main road and enter the estate by a very imposing side gate. We can then choose to walk clockwise, starting west through the sheep fields, or counter-clockwise, starting north along the Woodland Permissive Path. Either way, it is five miles of continually changing scenery.

Today we walked clockwise and immediately had close views of two Red Kites, wheeling and wheezing above us. So many were up and about today that we hardly had a moment without at least one of these magnificent raptors in sight. We also saw Red and Fallow Deer in the bottom field, near the A61.

As we were going for "a serious walk", I only had my Panny Point 'n' Shoot with me today. However, I rather like this image. What the tree has achieved kinda fits our mood. "Don't care about the conditions, I'm gonna do what I want!"
