The Edge of the Wold

Calshot

The third backblip

While Dad watched the Southampton-Portsmouth match, I went for a run out in his car. A quick visit to the New Forest and then on to the coast at Calshot. This was looking west towards the village just as the sun had set. Perhaps I was feeling lonesome for having left Wifie back at home in Cumbria a few days ago, but this seemed such a romantic, quintessentially English seaside scene. The shingle shore with groynes, the flag flying tower, the row of beach huts, where else in the world could this be?

Today is my last full day with Dad before heading home on the train tomorrow morning. We celebrated with that quintessentially British dish, a chicken tikka masala. I hadn't realised till recently that Dad has a bit of a taste for curries, though he will rarely get to have one. So a bit of a treat.
