Bloc Party
We headed to the Corn Exchange for our second free gig this month. Altogether different from Dan Sartain at the start of the month, who had a really simple rig, with minimal effects and lighting and a crowd of only 100 or so. Bloc Party on the other hand had loads of effects pedals and fancy lighting and about 1500 people watching them. They were really good though.
Still don't really know enough of the stuff on the new album, but they were really tight live and everything seemed much rockier live that it is on CD. If you get the chance I'd recommend checking them out live. It looked pretty wild down at the front with some serious pogo-ing going on. We're getting too old for that sort of stuff to be honest so were glad of our vantage point up on the balcony, even if it meant more distant photos than I would have liked.
The only real problem was that despite only being in our early 30's Roz and I felt pretty old as the bulk of the audience could have been extras from Skins.
