A Quiet Afternoon

Took a trip ten miles down the road to see what might be happening in Gorey. Things are very quiet here in Arklow, indeed apart from the festive lights you would be hard pressed to know Christmas was just upon us. I was in Dublin last week and it was almost as bad. Gorey, which is normally a better business town than Arklow resembled something from a Western movie. Add in the rain, remove the tumbleweed and presto, for all the festive cheer and purchasing of gifts was concerned, the town might be renamed Dry Gulch.

The economic disaster is biting HARD and the recently announced new budgetary measures have largely yet to kick in.
