Close encounters of the Lepidoptera kind . . .

I guess it was the relative balmy weather today or last night's roaring coal fire.

But whatever the reason, this lovely tortoiseshell butterfly magically appeared and dazzled us with its beauty.

Perhaps an early Christmas gift.
