The Cost of Crab Claws.
NO, not 50P, quite a bit more than that.
In a desperate, but futile, attempt to beat the hords we shopped today.
First stop Cranston's food hall ... ''Wot? No crab claw meat?'' Ratsenbergers!!! Got some other stuff, as ever.
Next stop Morrison's, where they have been doing one of those ...Spend thus much a week for 6 weeks and you get £25 off the next week's shopping (Provided you spend over £40). Got all we needed, which they had in stock. Hadn't the bread we usually buy, we knew they didn't do crab meat, unless it's tinned, got to till ... Oops we're short on spend, out goes the arm Californian Merlot 1/2 price £4.99. Right, what does that come to? You couldn't have planned it. Would you believe £40.01P Result!!!!
Thence over the road to Booths, the bread, had they had any would have been 32P per loaf dearer, they were out ... 2nd choice. Fish counter out of crab meat (Even frozen) Food Manager steered us to some crab claws. Dear, but saved the day, we thought.
Got home and attacked them.
They were clearly labeled 454gm including ice glaze (For ice glaze read ''Ice Bergs'')
Total final score...
Useful meat = 115gm
Claw rubbish = 131gm
Ice/water = 208gm
Total weight = 454gm
No result, we still had to raid the cupboard for a tin we'd forgotten we had.
However, at least we'll have the potted crab. :¬))
The blip another 50P piece to my collection. The new ones heralding the Olympics are on sale under the ''Licence to steal rules'' a new one over the post office counter sets you back about £2.50 - £2.75 ish.
As you can see this isn't one but it's a good consolation prized for 50P, collected in change.
