SERENE

NOTHING is serene in Canterbury this evening .... except maybe the sky.

At 1.58 there was a 5.8 earthquake, at 2.09pm there was a second 5.3 quake, and to top it off, at 3.19 there was a third 6.0 magnitude.

Canterbury people who were perhaps feeling a little safer, because there hadn't been any significant shakes for some time, who were looking forward to a quiet, peaceful christmas and festive season, have had their worlds turned upside down again.

Nerves are again stretched to breaking point, people are again on edge and unsure, frustrated, angry, upset, sad, resigned .. emotions will be running high tonight and over the next few days.

My heart goes out to anyone and everyone in Christchurch and Kaiapoi and other significantly damaged areas.
