Sam loves it ..
But I am not sure I do. Another series of quakes.
Bugger. Well, to be honest, I'd love to use a stronger word, but we'll keep this family friendly.
Last day of work before a few weeks off, and lots to do. Finished a task, sent it to one of the team for review and decided I had better look at the central city, now that it's open.
Have to say, I was super impressed, it's actually way better than what it used to be, and it's all containers.
Was too busy to get lunch so I jumped in the car a to head back to the office, yep, right around 1.58pm,. Stopped at the lights and a rather strong wind I thought, that went on, and on, and got stronger and stronger. Faaaaark, another earthquake. A big one.
Got back to the office and all the team, were fine, the building sailed thru, being brand new. And then, lots of aftershocks. And then finally, after what, 18 months, I got to experience a decent quake inside. 6.0, by myself in the office. Beer in one hand, mouse in the other, I decided to exit the building. But I have to say, I was impressed, it felt safe.
Surprisingly, when I got home at 4 the house was OK, not even a broken glass. And now I am getting ready to head away for a few weeks.
I feel very sad we've had another quake, it's going to set the city back enormously. But despite that I feel very positive for us for 2012.
Time for a break, a celebration. Lets hope these stop now, and lets have a great year next year. Dare I say it, we deserve it!
Ooh, and care of @karenjulia, the timeline ...
1.58pm Quake #1, 5.8, 8kms deep
2.06pm Quake #2, 5.3, 10kms deep
....4.2, 4.8, 4.4, 3.7....
3.18pm Quake #6, 6.0, 6kms deep
...4.6, 4.4, 5.0, 4.0, 3.7, 3.6...
7.53pm Quake #13, 3.9, 5kms deep.
In reality, way more than 13 aftershocks, dozens really, they tend to merge into one ...
