Dark

In summer the 14 hour ferry to the Northern Isles is a wonderful experience. Full of photographic opportunities.

In winter it's the opposite. Dark when you leave Aberdeen. Nothing to see out the window the whole trip. Dark when you arrive in Shetland the next morning.

Here's some blurry lights of a rather wet Orkney where the boat stops off for 45 minutes at 11pm. Smooth up to Orkney but gale force winds for the remainder of the sailing.

It's good to be heading home.
