GoldFinch..........

While i was out last Sunday afternoon clearing the cobwebs from the previous nights entertainment, a guy shouted out, "Did you get a shot of the Peregrines ?"
No, i replied, i haven't seen any....Turns out this guy's a serious birder, local to Gosport, he then started to tell me where i can find said flying machines.........

I mentioned earlier in the week about ex-naval vessels being anchored close to shore ready to be towed to the scarp yard, well it turns out that a pair of Perigrine falcons have moved into one of these desirable residences........

The closest public access to these vessels is a public slipway at Priddy's Hard, after thanking the guy for the heads up wifey and i walked to the slip way and started to scan the grey hulks looking for the falcons........

We'd only been there a matter of minutes when the "Serious Birder" turned up in his car, the car incidently has a pair of imitation antlers stuck to the roof......
I instantly forgave him this taste indescretion when he got his scope and tripod out of the cars boot......

After he'd set up his scope, wifey and i were invited to take a look........

The righthand vessel has two huge mast affairs, in line astern behind the bridge.

Bugger me, there they were, the female clearly bigger than the male was sat on the right hand mast while the male preened him self on the other mast.

The detail through the scope was excellent, well it did cost him just under £2000.

Through my 400mm lens they might as well have been Blackbirds..........

I went over to Priddy's Hard this afternoon, just in case they might have been flying about, no where to be seen............

I did manage to capture this pretty Goldfinch, we used to have them in the garden everyday up until a couple of months ago, now zip, zero, nadda........

Thanks for stopping by..........
